Texting No Different Than 'DRINKING' While Driving!
One of the top safety concerns for today is the growing trend and significant accident increase from the use of texting and other cell phone use while driving. The Orlando Sentinel reports “Texting Is No Different Than Drinking” while
driving.
“In 2009, 5,474 people were killed in crashes involving driver distraction, and an
estimated 448,000 were injured” (NHTSA).
The top distracted driving activities:
Texting
Using a cell phone or smartphone
Eating and drinking
Talking to passengers
Grooming
Reading, including maps
Using a navigation system
Watching a video
Adjusting a radio, CD player, or MP3 player
