Regarding feedback and communication in general, cultural differences make blanket generalizations difficult. For example, consider the rule, "state observations and not interpretations." If an American Indian youth consults with a respected elder, he will not expect observations. Also, "Choose the time and place without interruption." Some clients and some HR Specialists, depending on the office and people involved, might be uncomfortable behind a completely closed door. Even if nothing happens behind the completely closed door, perceptions can be important. Also, it might be hard for people without secretaries to hold the phone calls.
