Author Tony Stoltzfus writes a great book about resources for those coaching employees and others. Remember that coaching is not about "telling", rather it is about guiding by getting the individual to answer their own questions. The person being coached must do their own homework. As a coach, it is important to get to know the person you are working with and to understand their ultimate goals. Coaches help determine where and how to access resources and more information to assist in goal development and to break the ultimate goal down into mini goals or steps. Help make the journey more clear and easier to accomplish by offering suggestions and resources to overcome obstacles and get the person being coached to verbalize their own questions and to develop their own ways of accomplishing the many tasks and activities involved in reaching the ultimate goal or goals.
