Balancing work and life issues is an important part of human capital planning.
A GAO Study Reviews Federal Work – Life Programs and Satisfaction with US OPMs Assistance in a report dated December 16, 2010.
While the majority of the 33 federal agencies surveyed reported satisfaction with OPMs assistance with work – life programs, about 20% suggested improvements be made. The report found that there is a need to track monitoring, evaluation and information dissemination to help agencies address their work-life goals. Many federal officials recognize the importance of work – life programs in supporting their ability to recruit and retain employees. GAO posited that OPM could do a better job of surveying private sector work – life programs and sharing the best practices with federal agencies.
