Crying: Healthy or Not?

Reviewing some of the studies looking into crying reveal nothing absolutely certain as to the clinically proven method of determining whether or not crying is good for us.  But we do know that most of the research indicates a better feeling after crying than before or during the emotional response.  Crying has been historically linked to cultural practices.   Crying is represented in our happiness, joy, victory, and in defeat, to name a few of our emotional responses.  While some would characterize crying as a sort of poor psychological response, some cultures actually believe crying is sacred and redemptive.  Indeed, most counselors and therapists regard crying as positive and a constructive part of the healing and moving forward process.
