Many of the self-help fields and related websites incorporate some of the best workshop models and samples that can be applied across a range of training situations. Today’s special highlight is about the Compassionate Mind Foundation where they list a number of great resources, including this guidebook by Paul Gilbert entitled “An Introduction to the Theory and Practice of Compassion Focused Therapy and Compassionate Mind Training for Shame Based Difficulties”. We stumbled across this great tool in looking for more resources that apply to training compassion and empathy that compliments those professionals who must interview victims and relatives of same. An excerpt from Gilbert’s guidebook that best expresses its focus:
“Understanding shame and self-criticism as ways to try to defend ourselves via safety strategies such as avoidance, compensation or concealment are key to compassion-focused formulations.”
