The basic premise is that introverts are more solitary and get their energy from doing or participating in activities of the “inner world”. The inner world refers more to those types of experiences that require self-reflection, whereas extroverts get their energy from the “outer world”. An extrovert would be more inclined to hang out with friends or attend a sporting event for replenishing energy, and an introvert might be more tempted to retreat to reading a good book. Regardless of the terms or experiences used to describe these traits, neither is considered to be better than the other. Both have positives and both can be enhanced with additional strategies to benefit from the differing traits.
