One aspect of reviewing competent vendors and sources for training and education is to note the accreditation of that vendor or institution, especially for programs that an organization relies on to certify their employees are competent and to meet strategic goals. One large institution, the Graduate School USA, has a number of accreditations.
The Graduate School USA is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education (COE). The COE is dedicated to the following principles and values:
“To offer public assurance that accredited educational institutions provide quality instruction in career and technical education that facilitates learning by students and meeting the needs of the labor market.”
"To provide guidance to institutions for the continual improvement of their educational offerings and related activities.”
“To promote high ethical and educational standards for career and technical education.”
“To enhance public understanding of career and technical education providers and of the value of the education and the credentials offered by these providers.”
“To ensure that the accreditation process validates the achievement of learning and program objectives.”
“The Council has researched several new methods of calculating minimum requirements, reviewed the methods used by other similar agencies, and consulted with the staff of the U.S. Department of Education. The Council Committee on Standards reviewed several proposals at its recent meeting in August, 2011, and endorsed a policy that would apply the following minimum percentages to each program”:
“COMPLETION RATE: 60%”
“PLACEMENT RATE: 70%”
“LICENSURE EXAM PASS RATE: 70%”
“PLACEMENT RATE: 70%”
“LICENSURE EXAM PASS RATE: 70%”
HR Development Specialists and Training Program Managers would be wise to consult with accredited institutions and to understand how their training resource providers are guided in their program offerings and practices.
